юрДва вида диффамации [defamation], то есть подрыва репутации, преследуемые по закону. Клевета [slander] определяется как порочащее и наносящее моральный ущерб устное заявление одного частного лица в отношении другого, сделанное в присутствии третьих лиц. Дело о клевете может быть возбуждено в суде в четырех случаях: когда то или иное лицо обвиняют в поступке, который влечет за собой уголовное наказание; когда его обвиняют в нечестном ведении дел или в профессиональной непригодности; когда заявляют, что тот или иной индивид страдает болезнью, вызывающей у окружающих чувство брезгливости, и когда женщину обвиняют в легком поведении. Пасквиль [libel], в отличие от клеветы, ограниченной вышеперечисленными случаями, - это любой подрыв репутации другого лица, который приводит к потере уважения к нему в его окружении, к тому, что с ним прерывают отношения, а также к тому, что он становится объектом презрения или насмешек.
